Rain Diverters
Rain diverters are mainly installed for cosmetic reasons. Some find gutters too unsightly, but they can’t get rid of them entirely; after all, gutters protect your home from moisture damage. What they can do instead is install rain diverters.
Rain diverters act as a stand-in for your gutters on the more visible parts of your exterior. These inconspicuous strips of metal are installed on the underside of your roofing and divert rainwater towards the gutters.
However, rain diverters can also be used for more practical reasons. For example, rain diverters can double as a front porch if they’re installed on top of your front door, keeping you dry as you go out of your house or try to open the door.
Rain Barrel Diverters
Rain barrel diverters, on the other hand, are installed for more practical reasons. Rain barrels are connected to the downspout and store excess rainwater for future use. Once the barrel becomes full, a rain barrel diverter directs overflowing rainwater back to the downspout.
Installing rain barrel diverters will prevent rainwater from seeping through the pavement and potentially compromise your house’s foundation. Without these diverters, there’s a chance some rainwater might splash on to your siding, eventually resulting in the need for siding repair.
Although they’re not necessary, these accessories are often a must-have for busy professionals. Thanks to their packed schedules, they often fail to notice worrying signs of leaks. The rain barrel might have been filled to the brim last night, but they simply didn’t have the time to check. These accessories offer additional moisture protection and, consequently, peace of mind as well as convenience. And for many, these make such accessories a necessity.
